This first session in a two-part series focuses on three 21^st CCLC NTAC Math Toolkit resources that help OST staff recognize and understand math anxiety, support positive math identities, and build student confidence: How Thoughts and Emotions Affect Learning, Math Anxiety and Four MUSTs for Addressing It, and Math Messages That Build Confidence. You’ll leave with practical strategies for creating positive math experiences that support engagement and persistence. The Huddle will conclude with a 30-minute office hours session.

Now, in Part 2, the focus shifts to math-positive actionable strategies and low-prep activities you can implement in your out-of-school time (OST) program. This session guides you through self-assessment and reflection tools to help you recognize how adults’ messaging and program environments influence student growth. You’ll practice using positive, confidence-building language during homework help and enrichment; explore practical anxiety management skills (such as self-talk and S.T.O.P.); and examine simple ways to integrate engaging math activities into your existing routines. You’ll walk away with actionable steps to ensure positive math identities and engagement across all grade levels.
